Q. 1. What prompted you to attend a training course in counselling the bereaved?

My work asked me to attend as I deal with people who have experienced some form of bereavement in life. It has given me a better understanding of how to approach a difficult situation.
· For professional development.
· As a counselling student, bereavement is an unfamiliar subject but it is a skill/knowledge needed throughout life.
· To acquire knowledge and some 'tools' to take away in life - professionally or socially.

 

Q.2. What actual learning do you feel has taken place?

· Learning to listen, to be supportive and sympathetic.
· Looking beyond the surface to grasp the unspoken issues.
· The outcome of unresolved and resolved grief.
· Helped me to communicate with the bereaved.

 

Q.3. What was your reaction to the trainer? Is there anything else she could have offered?

· Training was very good; gave confidence in dealing with the bereaved.
· Very knowledgeable and sharp in her perception and a good listener.
· She is warm, supportive and compassionate and delivered the information very clearly
· She kept us interested, involved and focussed.

 

Q.4. How will you use the course - will it benefit your work?


· Yes, when coming in contact with patients, families and in my personal life.
· Learned valuable information about cultural aspects.
· Yes, will visit next of kin with a renewed knowledge and understanding.
· In assisting with bereaved children or their parents.
