Chair's Report
We have had another successful year due to the continued hard work, enthusiasm and loyalty shown by all members of the BBS family - the office staff, supervisors, volunteers and my fellow members of the Management Committee. One of the things that I love about the service is that it continues to develop and grow, always looking to review and improve the services on offer Also there is continuing research into and introduction of additions to the service to make it more available and meaningful to all members of the community. For example we have introduced bereavement awareness courses for teachers who need help in coping with the sometimes difficult situations they find themselves in with troubled bereaved students and a special project for the disabled to meet their special needs which includes specialist training for our volunteers.
We are forging links with new sponsors and donors and creating relationships with them. Sponsors and donors who have taken an interest in the services since inception continue to support and encourage us. I would like to thank all the organisations and the people we work with within them for enabling us to consolidate and improve this essential service.
Paulo, Valerie, Raksha and Richard are normally our unsung heroes, doing wondrous things in the office to enable everything to function so professionally whilst still making time to speak to, reassure and encourage everyone.
I am really looking forward to the next year and our continued innovation in introducing more new methods of helping and supporting bereaved people and their families in our community.
