A slight deficit last year has been recouped and our accounts now show a surplus of £1,283 at
the end of this financial year. This demonstrates how a small organisation can transform its
financial position with the support of good management and commitment from staff, volunteers
and funders, who have faith in our charitable work.
In a financially precarious world grants to the voluntary sector seem to suffer enormously due
to the number of charitable organisations competing for less capital. In addition, the
duplication of many services doesn't help agencies such as ours, who have a specific aim of
supporting bereaved people from all cultures and remains the only specialist bereavement
service in Brent. However, we work in partnership with many local and national organisations
to benefit bereaved people, who are being supported by others, through our training and
telephone help-line. This work is impossible to monitor because we can never really know how
many people will benefit, but we sincerely hope that our teaching, support and advice is
filtering through.
