Brent Bereavement Services is a solid organisation with a proven track record. It serves ALL the residents of the London Borough of Brent, and uses flair and initiative in taking account of the needs of those less likely to be able to voice those needs, such as children/young people and those with learning disabilities. BBS is well able to balance the fine dividing line between providing well-established services and producing new and vigorous projects to cover special needs using its expertise and great empathy.
But BBS is not a faceless organisation. It is made up by a group of dedicated, trained people whom I would like to relate to an orchestra, working together to provide a unified and beautiful theme. The conductors working in the office: Paulo, Valerie, Carole, Raksha and Richard hold the individual element together and provide support, leadership and the inspiration for the new ideas. They are supported by the Management Committee who listen, advise and reinforce. Out in the field are the "players", all volunteers, who offer the counselling support. They, in turn, are supported by the lead "violinists", the trained and accredited supervisors. And then the audience formed of donors who provide the necessary funding. Many have worked with us on a continuous basis and others are newcomers.
I know, from the reports we receive, that the users of the service gain great succour. I would like to be bold and offer the orchestra great thanks on their behalf as well as my own for, on a personal note, I have benefitted greatly during my association with BBS.
